DescriptionChinese porcelain ewer with silver mount, pear-shaped body with bulb-shaped mouth, and strap handle surmounted by a ring for attachment of a cover. It has a curved spout with a curling strut, raised on a spreading footring, and finished footrim. Decorated in underglaze blue, of light tone into eight registers divided by double or triple lines. The mouth has ket-fret band above a ruyi band at the neck with cloud scrolls above a continuous panel of bamboo above a narrow and broad lotus sprays, and a lappet band on the foot. Later mounted with a late 17th century style etched silver collar with hinged spout.
