DescriptionLife size figure of a flying bat rendered in pure white porcelain. The artist modeled and carved the body of the bat by hand, and used a porcelain lace technique to create it's wings. Porcelain lace is made by soaking lace fabric in a liquid porcelain slip and attaching it to a porcelain support. When the porcelain is fired, the fabric burns away and leaves and extremely fragile impression of the lace pattern in the finished porcelain.
