The artist modeled and carved the body of the bat by hand, and used a porcelain lace technique to create it's wings. Porcelain lace is made by soaking lace fabric in a liquid porcelain slip and attaching it to a porcelain support. When the porcelain is fired, the fabric burns away and leaves and extremely fragile impression of the lace pattern in the finished porcelain.</value></field><field label="Collections" name="collections"><value>Modern and Contemporary Ceramics</value><value>Modern and Contemporary - Canadian</value></field><field label="Relations" name="rels"><value>[]</value></field><field label="Classifications" name="classification"><value>Modern and Contemporary Ceramics</value></field><field label="Sub-classification" name="subclassification"><value>Canadian</value></field><field label="Sub-classification 2" name="subclassification2"><value/></field><field label="Sub-classification 3" name="subclassification3"><value/></field><field label="Width" name="width"/><field label="Height" name="height"/><field label="Depth" name="depth"/><field label="Id" name="id"><value>184005</value></field><field label="Source ID" name="sourceId"><value>170</value></field><field label="Culture" name="culture"><value>Canadian</value></field><field label="Media" name="media"><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/10885/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="5616" pixelHeight="3744" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G09.11.1 detail 3" mediaID="10885"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/10887/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="4674" pixelHeight="3243" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni HafkenscheidPhotographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G09.11.1 view 2" mediaID="10887"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/10886/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="5616" pixelHeight="3744" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G09.11.1 detail 1" mediaID="10886"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/10889/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="5616" pixelHeight="3744" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G09.11.1 view 3" mediaID="10889"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/4371/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="3000" pixelHeight="2400" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G09.11.1" mediaID="4371"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/10888/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="5616" pixelHeight="3744" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G09.11.1" mediaID="10888"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/10890/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="5616" pixelHeight="3744" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G09.11.1 detail 2" mediaID="10890"/></field></object>
