The artist modeled and carved the body of the bat by hand, and used a porcelain lace technique to create it's wings. Porcelain lace is made by soaking lace fabric in a liquid porcelain slip and attaching it to a porcelain support. When the porcelain is fired, the fabric burns away and leaves and extremely fragile impression of the lace pattern in the finished porcelain.</schema:description><schema:artForm>com.gallerysystems.emuseum.core.entities.Classification@3f8</schema:artForm><schema:copyrightHolder>© Shary Boyle</schema:copyrightHolder><schema:url>https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/objects/170/rdf</schema:url></schema:VisualArtwork></rdf:RDF>
