DescriptionMaya Calabash-shapped dish, Late Classic period, with fluted base, slightly flaring cylindrical sides. The front carved and incised with a dignitary in profile and shown to the waist, with striated backward-seeping coiffure held by a band, and plumes hanging at the back. There is another head in profile, possible a glyph, and flanked by other glyphs. Areas of red pigment remaining, and a black band around the rim.
