DescriptionChinese porcelain ewer/kendi from Wanli period (1567-1622). Lobed ovoid body of peach form surmounted by a slender neck terminating in six-petal foliate mouth. The long slender spount is modeled as a large branch with smaller branches. Decorated in underglaze blue with alternating panels of flowers, birds on a rock work and beribboned antique motifs, beneath a collar of ruyi-like cloud scrolls, the neck with bird on a rock motifs and foliate sprays, the pout with striations imitating bark.
