DescriptionDated to 1877, the piece is decorated on both sides with highly detailed orchids, lilies, and other flowers against Minton’s striking Bleu Céleste ground, inspired by Sèvres. The painting is attributed to William Mussill. Of Austrian origin, Mussil studied painting in Paris and worked at Sèvres before joining Minton in 1870. At Minton, he specialized in landscapes, flowers, and birds.
