DescriptionBy the early 18th century, knives and forks were produced in matching sets. Handles were made by various porcelain factories and blades were added by metalsmiths. The pistol-shaped handles on this set of five knives were made at the Saint-Cloud manufactory, c. 1740-1760. The molded relief decoration showing a floral pattern imitates wares imported from Dehua known as blanc de Chine.
