The centre is moulded in low relief with a crane in flight above two swans and a feeding crane in flight above two swans. As well as a feeding crane amidst waves and rushes against a ground of spirally-radiating shellwork. The double coat of arms painted on the two handles in colours and gold. Harlequin is  seated on a flower encrusted rockwork base, his knees apart and his legs crossed at the ankles. Under his left arm he holds a pair of bagpipes. On his head a pale blue pointed hat.  He wears a waistcoat divided into sections by gilded seams, one half patterned with playing cards in puce on the white fond and the other side with puce scaling.  White knee breeches with yellow rosettes at the knees.  His face, with drooping moustache, bears and expression of slightly bored amusement. Columbine sits also on a flower encrusted base. She plays a hurdy-gurdy which she holds on her knees. Her head is inclined to the right, and she wears a long white skirt with puce lace pattern at the edge, a white ruffled blouse with blue bows at the elbows, and a puce bodice with lacing at the front. As well she wears a yellow apron drawn to one side and yellow shows on her feet with gilt trim and buckles.
