There are two trumpeters with the first wearing a flowered coat and iron-red breeches (c.1765-1766), and the second in a yellow-lined pale puce coat and turquoise-green waistcoat, and each with a sword at his side.  

The French horn player is wearing a black tricorn hat, and a white coat and puce breeches.  

The drummer is wearing a black tricorn hat, a yellow coat and grey breeches carrying a drum on his left arm and holding two batons.  

There is two drum Bearers, each wearing a white shirt and carrying a pair of snare drums on his back, with the first in blue breeches and the second in yellow breeches.  

A pair of singers, with the first wearing a beige dress, a yellow bodice and a turquoise-green skirt, and the other is in a pale lavender dress and a yellow skirt. Each is seated on a stool holding a score of music in her right hand and gesturing with the other.

Harlequin's features are strongly modelled; he laughs with his mouth open and his eyes slanting.  He wears a tunic with a diamond pattern in red, turquoise, yellow and white, the cuffs lined in mauve, gold buttons and trimming, and a white ruffle at the neck and wrists.  His trousers have a similar diamond pattern in green, mauve, yellow and white and are hemmed in gold.  Round his waist is a black belt with his slapstick thrust through it/  His black hair is covered by a yellow hat, its brim turned back and trimmed with a blue rosette and two feathers.

Columbine wears a mauve and black bodice with gold edging over a low-neck white blouse.  She wears an iron-red skirt and over it she has on a white apron.  Her dark hair is drawn into a knot at the back of her head and bound with a red ribbon and partly covered by a small tricorn hat trimmed with two mauve feathers and gold braiding.  Her high-heeled shoes are mauve with turquoise bows.
The child is dressed like Harlequin in a long-sleeved tunic and trousers with a diamond pattern of mauve, green, yellow and white, and with a white ruffle round his neck.  His hat is red with a white rosette and gold braiding; his shoes are black.

He is seated and leans on a knarled stick. Her right arm is around his shoulders and is about to kiss him on the cheek.  Her dress is a full crinoline with brilliant yellow skirt decorated with Asian-inspired flowers in multicolour. She wears an orange bodice with black 'V', low necked blouse with three quarter length sleeves.  On her lap is a brown and white mongrel which she is holding with her right arm. The Harlequin is standing on his left leg, his right one raised in front and is holding aloft in each hand an orange and white feather. His jacket has four panels, one turquoise, one yellow and two white scattered with playing cards. The sleeves of his jacket are also in four panels, two puce, green and white stripes, one yellow and one white. On his head a light brown hat. He wears a waistcoat divided into sections by gilded seams, one half patterned with playing cards in puce on the white fond and the other side with puce scaling.  White knee breeches with yellow rosettes at the knees.  His face, with drooping moustache, bears and expression of slightly bored amusement. Columbine sits also on a flower encrusted base. She plays a hurdy-gurdy which she holds on her knees. Her head is inclined to the right, and she wears a long white skirt with puce lace pattern at the edge, a white ruffled blouse with blue bows at the elbows, and a puce bodice with lacing at the front. As well she wears a yellow apron drawn to one side and yellow shows on her feet with gilt trim and buckles. The movement has gilt bronze surround, and is painted in bright colours with panels of hunting figures at various pursuits. These include firing at stags and attending to their hounds. They are divided by bands of gilt scale-pattern and Laub-und-Bandelwerk.
