The designer, George Emery, had apprenticed at Wedgwood before immigrating to Canada. Once here, he founded Ecanada Art Pottery in Hamilton, Ontario to reproduce the storied ware using imported white clay from England and the United States. The foreign material takes on a decidedly \u201cCanadian\u201d identity by depicting a twisted pine tree, part of the national iconography following the wide promotion of paintings by the Group of Seven in Canada from the 1920s to the 1970s."},"medium":{"label":"Medium","value":"Blue stoneware with applied white relief"},"onview":{"label":"On View","value":"1"},"media":{"label":"Media","value":[{"mediaRenditionNumber":"G16.9.1 view 2","publicAccess":"true","mediaImageURL":"https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/23818/full","rank":"0","pixelHeight":"2400","pixelWidth":"3000","mediaID":"23818"},{"mediaRenditionNumber":"G16.9.1 view 3","publicAccess":"true","mediaImageURL":"https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/23815/full","rank":"0","pixelHeight":"2400","pixelWidth":"3000","mediaID":"23815"},{"mediaRenditionNumber":"G16.9.1 view 4","publicAccess":"true","mediaImageURL":"https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/23816/full","rank":"0","pixelHeight":"2400","pixelWidth":"3000","mediaID":"23816"},{"mediaRenditionNumber":"G16.9.1","publicAccess":"true","mediaImageURL":"https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/23817/full","rank":"0","pixelHeight":"2400","pixelWidth":"3000","mediaID":"23817"}]},"title":{"label":"Title","value":"Teapot"},"classification":{"label":"Classifications","value":"North American"},"people":{"label":"Artist / Maker","value":["Ecanada Art Pottery","George Emery Sr."]},"rels":{"label":"Relations","value":"[]"},"subclassification2":{"label":"Sub-classification 2","value":""},"primaryMedia":{"value":"https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/23817/full"},"subclassification3":{"label":"Sub-classification 3","value":""},"collections":{"label":"Collections","value":["19th and early 20th Century Ceramics","Ceramics for the Canadian Market"]},"culture":{"label":"Culture","value":"Canadian"},"displayDate":{"label":"Date","value":"1926"},"id":{"label":"Id","value":"182784"},"dimensions":{"label":"Dimensions","value":"Overall: 13.2 × 21.1 × 12.6 cm (5 3/16 × 8 5/16 × 4 15/16 in.)"}}]}
