Decorated with “The Staghunt” pattern derived from Chinese porcelain, this teapot exemplifies an extremely rare early shape of which only three examples survive. While Worcester’s teapots could withstand boiling water, this one was most probably made for a collector`s china cabinet rather than for use. It is unique for its complex rhythmic shape which displays the influence of rococo silver, its asymmetrical cartouches and scroll feet echoing the exuberant shapes of the Huguenot silversmith Paul de Lamerie. Potting and firing such complex shapes was challenging and the underside shows fissures that were filled with crushed frit in order to reinforce the splayed feet. Intricately moulded shapes were abandoned around 1754 as the factory turned to utilitarian wares aimed at a broader middle class market.</value></field><field label="Collections" name="collections"><value>18th Century European Porcelain</value><value>Worcester</value><value>English Porcelain</value></field><field label="Relations" name="rels"><value>[]</value></field><field label="Classifications" name="classification"><value>European Ceramics</value></field><field label="Sub-classification" name="subclassification"><value>English Porcelain</value></field><field label="Sub-classification 2" name="subclassification2"><value/></field><field label="Sub-classification 3" name="subclassification3"><value/></field><field label="Width" name="width"/><field label="Height" name="height"/><field label="Depth" name="depth"/><field label="Id" name="id"><value>184748</value></field><field label="Source ID" name="sourceId"><value>5785</value></field><field label="Culture" name="culture"><value>English</value></field><field label="Markings" name="markings"><value>None</value></field><field label="Media" name="media"><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/27730/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="3275" pixelHeight="2620" mediaRenditionNumber="G13.12.8a-b view 4 (2)" mediaID="27730"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/27731/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="3207" pixelHeight="2566" mediaRenditionNumber="G13.12.8a-b view 3 (3)" mediaID="27731"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/10946/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="5616" pixelHeight="3744" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G13.12.8a Detail 2" mediaID="10946"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/10941/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="5616" pixelHeight="3744" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G13.12.8a Detail 1" mediaID="10941"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/10943/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="5616" pixelHeight="3744" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G13.12.8b Cover detail 1" mediaID="10943"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/10942/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="5616" pixelHeight="3744" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G13.12.8b Cover detail 2" mediaID="10942"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/10945/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="5552" pixelHeight="3701" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G13.12.8a-b view 1" mediaID="10945"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/9277/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="3199" pixelHeight="2400" mediaRenditionNumber="G13.12.8a-b" mediaID="9277"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/10944/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="5625" pixelHeight="3751" mediaCaption="Photographer: Toni Hafkenscheid" mediaRenditionNumber="G13.12.8a-b view 2" mediaID="10944"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/27728/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="4081" pixelHeight="3265" mediaRenditionNumber="G13.12.8a-b view 2 (4)" mediaID="27728"/><value mediaImageURL="https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/27729/full" rank="0" publicAccess="true" pixelWidth="3965" pixelHeight="3172" mediaRenditionNumber="G13.12.8a-b (2)" mediaID="27729"/></field></object>
