The brightly coloured plates, originally from the service of Bernard d\u2019Avesne, advisor to King Louis XV, exemplify Guillibaud\u2019s unique chinoiserie style inspired by Chinese famille verte porcelain characterized by polychrome enamels. At the same time, they point to the impact of Japanese kakiemon porcelain which was avidly collected in Europe and imitated by numerous porcelain factories including Chantilly in France. The flying cranes and banded hedge are among the repertoire of motifs appropriated from Japanese porcelain and that can be seen on the flask decorated in the kakiemon style."},"medium":{"label":"Medium","value":"Tin-glazed earthenware (grand feu faïence)"},"onview":{"label":"On View","value":"1"},"media":{"label":"Media","value":{"mediaRenditionNumber":"G12.14.17.1-2","publicAccess":"true","mediaImageURL":"https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/7895/full","rank":"0","pixelHeight":"2400","pixelWidth":"4200","mediaID":"7895"}},"title":{"label":"Title","value":"Pair of Plates from the Service of Bernard d\u2019Avesnes"},"classification":{"label":"Classifications","value":"European Ceramics"},"people":{"label":"Artist / Maker","value":"Jean-Baptiste Guillibaud Manufacture"},"rels":{"label":"Relations","value":"[]"},"subclassification2":{"label":"Sub-classification 2","value":""},"primaryMedia":{"value":"https://emuseum.gardinermuseum.com/internal/media/dispatcher/7895/full"},"subclassification3":{"label":"Sub-classification 3","value":""},"collections":{"label":"Collections","value":["French Faïence","14th to 18th Century European Earthenware and Stoneware"]},"geography":{"label":"Geography","value":"Origin: Rouen, France"},"culture":{"label":"Culture","value":"French"},"displayDate":{"label":"Date","value":"ca. 1730"},"id":{"label":"Id","value":"183891"},"dimensions":{"label":"Dimensions","value":"Overall (G12.14.17.1): 2.9 × 24.5 cm (1 1/8 × 9 5/8 in.)Overall (G12.14.17.2): 3.1 × 24.5 cm (1 1/4 × 9 5/8 in.)"}}]}
