It is stamped “Greetings from Canada” under the base.  The imagery is stereotypical of the way in which Europeans perceived Canada and its indigenous people at the time.  

Betty Sylvester worked as a decorator at Newport and had painted many of Clarice Cliff's famous 'Bizarre Ware' patterns, which were also produced at the pottery.
