The broad rim is moulded and applied with a heraldic shield. There is a pair of naturalistic scallop shells and seaweed, and another shell opening to reveal a putto surrounded by two fish. The rim border is moulded with tiny alternating scallop shells. The decoration is in polychrome enamel majolica glazes, and painted in the centre with Venus and Neptune attended by putti.
